Double recommission for Paramedics

We're delighted to announce that our award-winning BBC series Paramedics on Scene has been renewed for two new seasons.

Filming for series six is starting this summer across Scotland, with series seven to follow next year. Both series are 10 x 60 minutes. The Executive Producer at Firecrest is Mick McAvoy.

As well as being a ratings success, Paramedics on Scene is the home of Firecrest's prestigious Talent Development Scheme which has provided opportunities in observational documentary for more than 30 people to date - spanning researchers, self-shooting PDs, production managers, editors, series producers and execs stepping up to a new role.

The Talent Development Scheme has been built into every series of Paramedics on Scene. Funded by Firecrest and BBC Scotland through Paramedics on Scene, it has provided opportunities in observational documentary for more than 30 people to date, from researchers to self-shooters, production managers, editors, series producers and execs, stepping up to a new role.

Earlier this month the scheme won the inaugural RTS Scotland Impact award that recognises initiatives which have had a lasting and significant impact.

Tony Nellany, Commissioning Editor at BBC Scotland, said, “Paramedics on Scene provides viewers with a very special insight into the work of the Scottish Ambulance Service, alongside human interest stories from across Scotland. As this award recognises, it is also a pivotal cog in our strategy for developing behind the scenes talent in the documentary sector here. And we’re delighted to be commissioning more of this powerful and popular documentary series.”
