About
“This company has quietly become a best-in-class supplier.”
Firecrest Films is an independent production company with an outstanding reputation for award-winning documentaries, and for our positive and enabling company culture.
In July 2024 we were named the best multichannel TV production company in the UK at the Broadcast Digital awards. We were named Britain's best small independent production company at the 2022 Edinburgh TV Festival, and for five consecutive years have been cited as one of the Best Places to Work in TV by Broadcast magazine.
We are proudly based in Govan, Glasgow, investing in local talent and making films which impact all over the world.
We specialise in ambitious premium documentaries for major UK broadcasters and streamers. We've received more than 60 award nominations in the last five years, and have won 16 BAFTA awards, including Amazon's first ever BAFTA win for our box set series Three Mothers, Two Babies and a Scandal.
Our films have achieved record ratings, huge social media pickup, and made front page news. More than 15m people watched coverage of our BBC documentary Liar: the Fake Grooming Scandal within 24 hours of launch.
Our success and growth has been made possible by identifying the very best people on our doorstep and giving them the opportunities and skills to step up.
We are renowned for our commitment to training and growing the next generation of TV talent, and partner with broadcasters, streamers and other industry bodies to offer significant roles, placements and mentoring.
We fund our own programme, the Firecrest Talent Development Scheme, which has boosted the careers of more than 40 people and is frequently cited by broadcasters as a model initiative. In June 2024 the scheme won the inaugural Royal Television Society Impact Award, recognising its significant and lasting impact on the TV sector in Scotland.
In 2022 Firecrest was named one of the best companies in TV for new talent at the New Voice Awards, and we've also been cited by Broadcast magazine as the fastest growing independent TV company outside London.
We are based in the stunning Fairfield building in Govan, Glasgow, once the greatest shipyard in the world. You can read more about this incredible space here. Our office is fully accessible with a lift, off street parking and good transport links. We are proud to be a disability confident employer.
Firecrest Films is supported with funds awarded by the UK Global Screen Fund - financed by the UK Government's Department for Culture, Media and Sport and administered by the BFI.
In January 2017 the Channel 4 Growth Fund took an investment stake in the business, which has helped fuel our expansion and growth.
